What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASSEMBLER position at Airxcel Inc?
SUMMARY
This position will work on either an assembly line or at individual job stations to perform a wide variety of sub-assembly and final assembly operations to produce air conditioners for recreational vehicles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
Obtains job instructions from supervisor, or lead.
Gets workstation and equipment ready for production, obtaining materials as needed. Reports material shortages.
Performs assembly operations such as drilling, riveting, bolting, and wiring, by hand and with jigs, air guns, machines, and fixtures.
Disassembles units as required to perform rework operations. Makes minor changes and adjustments on machinery and equipment such as changing tools and adjusting rivet sets.
Maintains accurate records for attendance and production purposes.
Packages and identifies parts and products as assigned.
Performs operations to quality standards as specified by blueprints and verbal instructions.
Keeps work area in order and observes all safety rules as specified in employee handbooks, memos, and MSDS literature.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Good mechanical skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
None. Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS
None.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety material, and manuals used on the job.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to complete basic mathematics functions. Needs to be able to count accurately.
REASONING ABILITIES
Ability to identify and describe problems. Ability to interpret and apply safety instructions provided orally or in writing to the job assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions.
The employee is required to stand for 8 hours a day while performing the assembly functions, lift up to 25 pounds frequently, work overhead frequently, stoop, squat and bend repeatedly, have the motor skills to operate power tools for fastener installation, pick up small fasteners, and manipulate the parts into an assembled air conditioner. These tasks are done on a repetitive basis and may involve 300 – 400 units per day. Vision requirements include: close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee will be exposed to pieces of sheet metal, which may have sharp edges, moving mechanical parts, plastics, steel, copper, refrigerant, insulation and various adhesives and power tools on a daily basis. The noise level in the factory is moderate to loud.
