Job Summary:
The Assembly Engineer will support manufacturing by maintaining the automated assembly processes. Troubleshoot and provide engineering solutions to assembly lines as well as the shop floor. Monitor different aspects of product development and continually strive to improve the way manufacturing operates. This is a hands-on position where the bulk of the time will be spent on the floor and manufacturing area providing support to production.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Planning and installation of machinery and equipment for new or re-tooled product lines.
- Trouble shoot equipment and process issues that occur on the manufacturing floor
- Implement design and process changes to increase equipment and manufacturing efficiencies.
- Root cause analysis and countermeasure of quality issues
- Continuous improvement of quality and cost through machine, jig and process improvements. Design, specify and implement these improvements.
- Line support to repair/improve machines
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for ensuring that new equipment is properly installed and ready for quality production
- Implement kaizens to improve manufacturing metrics, including but not limited to Availability and Labor Reductions
- Accurate planning and budget development for investments and tooling for new programs
- Create documentation for changes to processes and equipment
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Successful completion of a BS in Engineering
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in an engineering role; Experience within a manufacturing company is preferred
- Knowledge of automated machinery and assembly processes
- Understand PFMEA, Statistical probability, and root cause analysis
- Demonstrated trouble shooting/problem solving experience in an engineering role
- Strong familiarity with robotics and AutoCAD
