About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer III to lead the development of cutting-edge picosatellites for defense and scientific applications. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with expertise in satellite engineering and systems design, particularly in building small-scale, lightweight satellite solutions. The Systems Engineer III will take ownership of the end-to-end lifecycle of picosatellites, from initial concept through testing, launch, and operational support, ensuring mission success while optimizing for performance, reliability, schedule and cost-effectiveness.
Primary Responsibilities
oDevelop and refine system-level requirements, specifications, and designs for small picosatellites (under 1 kg).
oDefine and optimize the architecture to balance size, weight, power, and cost with mission-specific requirements.
oLead the integration of satellite subsystems, including avionics, propulsion, communication, power management, and thermal control
oOversee or conduct testing (e.g., vibration, thermal vacuum, EMI / EMC) to ensure picosatellite readiness for space environment and mission constraints.
oCoordinate cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to meet project milestones and objectives.
oWith Program Manager, track and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, while identifying and mitigating technical risks.
oPrepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design reviews, validation reports, and operational procedures.
oEnsure compliance with industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and mission-specific protocols.
oDiagnose and resolve system-level issues throughout the design, integration, and testing phases.
oAnalyze data post-launch to ensure performance objectives are met and contribute to continuous improvement.
