The Preschool at AJCC is looking for professional Early Childhood Teachers for our infant classrooms to join our team. Candidates should have some experience working in a preschool or daycare setting, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work independently. A successful candidate will be excited and dedicated to helping children learn and grow through play and various educational activities. Candidates will be familiar with Tennessee Childcare Licensing Regulations and QRIS Standards, knowledgeable of infant and toddler development, and experienced in developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques. Preferred candidates will have a C.D.A. credential or degree and at least two solid years of full-time experience in a regulated and licensed setting.

Hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00-5:00. You must be 18 year of age or older.

Responsibilities and Duties

Educators are responsible for working collaboratively and cooperatively to ensure that all aspects of nurturing and caring for the children enrolled in the classroom are achieved, including:

-Creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment so children are enabled and encouraged to thrive;

-Implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on Preschool at AJCC guidelines and current best practices while working with out Curriculum Specialist;

-Encouraging positive family relations by engaging with parents and other stakeholders;

-Promoting children’s intellectual, emotional, and physical well-being while supporting each child’s social development and individual needs;

-Cultivating a collaborative and spirited work environment that fosters teamwork and child-focused care; and

-Working with and under the supervision of the Center Directors and Curriculum Specialist to ensure compliance with Preschool at AJCC's standards and governmental regulations.

Preschool at AJCC teachers are hourly, and contracted to work August to May and are expected to work 40 hours/week for full-time positions (additional hours with overtime pay may be offered/required on occasion). In addition to classroom hours, attendance at evening training sessions and meetings is required from time-to-time. Summer work is available for those who want to continue with our program and have met satisfactory performance.

Qualifications and Skills

Our open position is a professional role and experience and qualifications commensurate with similar care providers is necessary. In particular, educator must at a minimum:

-Possess a high school degree or equivalent - TECTA, CDA, AA or BA is highly preferred;

-Have at least one year of experience in a licensed daycare or advanced training in early childhood development, at least two years is preferred;

-Meet all licensure-related requirements to work in a Tennessee Department of Human Services regulated child care center, such as passing a criminal background check, becoming certified in CPR and first aid, undergoing health screenings, and passing drug tests;

-Adhere to policies and procedures and foster a positive work environment;

-Be able and willing to run, jump, squat, sing, dance, talk, laugh and be silly with a fun and energetic group of youngsters!

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
