Position Summary The role of Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and material, and equipment access. The Maintenance Planner will create job plans intended to ensure or extend the life expectancy of equipment therefore aiding in the total reduction of maintenance cost and increased output of product. The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordination of all plannable maintenance work performed in the facility. The Maintenance Planner is also responsible for maintenance records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance related matters. Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities Be the primary contact and liaison person between Maintenance, Production, and other supported departments. Ensure all internal beneficiaries of Maintenance receive timely, efficient, and quality service. Balance Production's need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through productive maintenance. Long range planning involving regular analysis of backlog relative to available resources Short term planning to identify scope of work needed, and analysis of required level of planning. Coordinate with Production to describe, approve, and schedule work to be done Communicate with work requestor to gain complete clarity of work to be performed Communicate with all stakeholders the expectations of work before equipment is taken out of service Conducts line walks to identify and document job requirements Identify specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work Makes safety procedures, including Lock Out/ Tag Out procedures, available to employees. Ensures that all aspects of the existing company safety policy are incorporated into the job plan Estimates hours on work order takes, total work order duration, and skills required to perform the taskPlans jobs with appropriate level of detail for the given skilled trades workforce Determines and includes FSQA requirements on jobs Gathers necessary engineering or technical documents, specifications, and drawings Writes clear and concise work instructions/ procedures Coordinates with store room specialist and maintenance buyer to identify and procure parts and tools needed to perform requested work Determines and arranges for parts required to perform the work (when no store room specialist or maintenance buyer exists) Compiles information into a scheduled Preventative Maintenance package for skilled mechanics. Clearly communicates with mechanics on critical steps of the PM Upon completion of jobs, communicates with mechanics regarding ideas and procedures that would make future jobs more efficient Coordinates with management to reprioritize jobs as needed Keeps bills of materials currentIs able to accurately measure the maintenance backlog in its various forms and continually maintains not less than two weeks work of ready backlog at all timesEnsures all work orders and PMs are closed when work is completedParticipates in down time planning activities such as scope identification and control, scheduling, coordination, risk assessment, execution, and continuous improvement Communicates with contractor resources directly on specific work orders assigned to the contractor and performance expectations of the work. Does not manage contractors, but ensures that all details of the work order are clearly communicated and understood. Compiles and delivers reports from the CMMS (JDE) regarding the work execution management process Position Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. PMP Certificate preferred Experience with CMMS required. Experience with JD Edwards a plus Strong mechanical/ electrical aptitude Some level of supervisory experience a plus Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word Working Conditions The working conditions of this job require the employee to frequently be exposed to wet, humid, and extremely cold conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to vibration and the noise level can be moderate. To protect against these conditions, frequent use of personal protective equipment is required.
