The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is seeking a Manager of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships to support the strategic growth and execution of new and existing partnerships across the AJC. As the AJC transforms from a storied newspaper into a modern media company, the Manager will play a critical role in partnering closely with internal and external partners that will drive monetization, distribution, subscriber growth, and branding/marketing opportunities for the AJC portfolio.
This is a newly established, highly visible, role that enables leadership to drive the strategic direction of the company. We are looking for a self-starter who can proactively build, nurture, and maintain business-focused, long-term working relationships with partners both inside and outside of the organization and who is passionate about media.
The Work
Owns the execution and management of new and existing distribution and monetization portfolio partners including but not limited to news aggregators, social media platforms, audio/podcast platforms, video streamers, and content distribution partners.
Identifies, evaluates and helps to negotiate new partnerships and business development opportunities for the AJC.
Identifies and develops new revenue streams for the AJC including but not limited to audio and video licensing, affiliate, and e-commerce.
Collaborates closely with the Growth Marketing team focused on digital subscriber growth to create new business development partnerships to drive new subscribers, engagement and retention for the AJC’s digital products.
Supports negotiating and structuring and strategic partnerships working closely with Legal and Strategic Operations.
Works closely with internal stakeholders in aligning partnership strategy and business development frameworks and processes across the AJC.
Partners with Strategic Finance and other internal stakeholders to analyze market potential and develop business cases for new business opportunities.
Acts as a liaison between partners and internal teams, facilitating communication and project execution to ensure success of the partnership through:
Conducting regular reviews of partnership performance against KPIs
Preparing detailed reports, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas of improvement
Preparing and presenting reports to senior management and stakeholders
Adjusting partnership strategies based on performance data and market trends and opportunities

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree with 6 years focused on strategy, business development, partnership management or a related field. A candidate may also have a Master's Degree with 4 years of experience or a Ph.D with 1 year of experience. A non-degreed candidate will have 10 years of experience.
Experience in identifying, developing, and managing partnerships to drive growth
Experience balancing multiple concurrent projects.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
Strong ability to analyze data, interpret performance metrics, and make data-driven decisions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong presentation and PowerPoint skills
Ideal Experience
