Financial Controller Responsibilities :
The Controller of Finance & Procurement will collaborate with department heads to align financial strategies.
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, providing accurate projections and regular updates to management.
Prepare financial statements, ensuring GAAP compliance and adherence to regulatory standards.
The Controller of Finance & Procurement will oversee cash flow, accounts payable / receivable, and ensure timely payments and collections.
Support audits, working with external auditors to maintain financial accuracy and readiness.
Conduct reconciliation and resolve financial discrepancies.
Develop and improve financial controls and processes for operational efficiency.
The Controller of Finance & Procurement will guide the accounting team and support daily financial tasks.
Monitor financial performance and advise leadership on cost-saving and profitability strategies.
Collaborate with the Foundation on related matters.
Procurement Lead Responsibilities :
The Controller of Finance & Procurement will develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize costs and quality.
Align procurement processes with financial objectives.
Manage supplier relationships and negotiate favorable contracts.
The Controller of Finance & Procurement will monitor inventory levels and ensure departmental supply needs are met.
Enforce compliance with procurement policies and ethical standards.
Conduct market research for new vendors and cost-saving opportunities.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment under general supervision.
Qualifications :
The Controller of Finance & Procurement must hold a bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Must have a minimum of 3 years in finance, procurement, or supply chain management. Non-profit background preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interpret technical materials and present information effectively.
Ability to apply mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, and ratios, to practical situations.
The Controller of Finance & Procurement must have the ability to define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions from complex information.
Strong understanding of business operations, profitability, market trends, and strategic alignment with 1440’s mission.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, NetSuite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and internet software; 50 WPM typing speed.
The Controller of Finance & Procurement must have a strong knowledge of accounting principles, legal compliance, and general ledger management in accordance with GAAP.
Knowledge of business finance, including investment, debt management, and banking relationships.
