Job Summary:
The Application Sales Engineer will provide application engineering support to sales teams and customers by leveraging technical expertise in system applications and specialized knowledge of company products.
Reports to: Regional Sales Manager - Power Generation
Key Responsibilities:
- The Application Sales Engineer will help customers select and apply company products for systems and components.
- Support installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and startup of the products and systems.
- Travel, as needed to assess product potential and customer needs, assisting with sales.
- The Application Sales Engineer will ensure communication with sales teams to provide application support as needed.
- Present the products and solutions at conferences, trade shows, and technical events.
- Contribute to marketing efforts by reviewing product literature and participating in industry events.
- Collaborate with marketing and project teams to provide feedback on product development.
- The Application Sales Engineer will conduct market research and competitive analysis.
- Present technical papers at industry events.
- Assist in creating sales tools, such as application notes.
- Lead and mentor other application specialists.
Requirements:
- The Application Sales Engineer must have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in application engineering, with a strong focus on electrical systems from Power Generation, Petroleum Refineries, Chemical Facilities, or Military industry.
- Experience with excitation systems or rotating equipment is highly desired.
- Demonstrated expertise with 3-phase power systems in the Utilities and Industrial markets.
- The Application Sales Engineer must have experience with static frequency converters.
Technical Skills:
- The Application Sales Engineer must have an in-depth knowledge of rectifier bridges and their components, and an understanding of electrical control systems.
- Strong foundation in Ohm’s Law, power formulas, and general electrical engineering principles related to power systems.
- Ability to size electrical equipment for Synchronous Motors and Generators.
- Understanding of mechanical concepts such as shock, vibration, and environmental factors, particularly related to application engineering.
- The Application Sales Engineer must travel up to 50% throughout the US and Canada.
Location: Position is remote but must be located within the United States (excluding California). Preferred locations include Denver, CO; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Las Vegas, NV.
