Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work to maintain Community facilities and residences and install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
Two years (2) years of experience as a skilled electrician (completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational education in the electrical field may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience requirements); OR any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License and be able to meet the Community's insurance carrier requirements. Must complete and pass a background check.
- Performs skilled work in a variety of construction trades, including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical, to maintain Community facilities and residences;installs/repairs plumbing fixtures, doors, windows, and evaporative coolers; builds shelving; forms/finishes concrete projects.
- Performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled activities associated with gas and water/wastewater line maintenance/construction, including locating gas or water/wastewater lines, and tapping gas and water/wastewater main lines; operates a variety of medium construction equipment, including backhoe, front end loader, and dump truck, as needed.
- Installs electrical components such as wire, conduit, outlets, lighting fixtures switches, circuit breakers, power appliances, timers, and related equipment in existing or new electrical systems.
- Performs preventive maintenance on furnaces and HVAC. Troubleshoots equipment, switch and relay contacts, terminals, motors, and other electrical system components.
- Conducts periodic inspections and tests of emergency power and lighting systems,and other electrical equipment for proper operation and safety requirements.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the electrician trade.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and materials used in facilities maintenance/construction work.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment and tools used in electrical construction and maintenance.
- Skill in installing and modifying electrical wiring and system components and in detecting and correcting defects and malfunctions in electrical systems, devices and equipment.
- Knowledge of a variety of construction trades practices and techniques, including carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical.
- Skill in reading and understanding blueprints, construction drawings, and sketches used for construction, remodel, and maintenance projects.
- Skill in understanding and following oral and written instructions.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other Community employees and the public.
- Skill in operating and maintaining assigned power equipment.
