Summary
Under general supervision, counsels substance abuse clients and develops / implements a variety of projects and activities to promote substance abuse awareness and counseling throughout the community. This position will utilize various therapeutic modalities specific to substance abuse and co-occurring disorders
Minimum Qualifications
Masters Degree in the field of Counseling or closely related field with at least two (2) years of experience in substance abuse. Must have a license from the State of Arizona, LASAC, LISAC, LPC. Applicant must be a person of highly stable character. Applicant must also understand the need for release of information when necessary. Must be able to work a flexible schedule and work independently. Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license and be able to meet the Community's insurance carrier requirements. Must pass an extensive background check. Preferred qualifications : Masters Degree , LISAC plus 4 years of experience in substance abuse
Examples of Duties
- Develops treatment plans, writes progress notes, makes appropriate referrals, and writes discharge summaries.
- Counsels clients, individually, or with family members. Functions frequently in Substance Abuse group settings.
- Remains current on different types of substances and state of the art treatment for those substances.
- Develops programs to educate youth and other interested parties regarding substance abuse, including drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and gambling.
- Facilitates various substance abuse groups with clients.
- Works effectively with other local area behavioral health / social service agencies as needed.
- Maintains strict confidentiality, in compliance with HIPAA, regarding all matters involving clients both during and off work hours.
- Will be responsible for running the Substance Abuse Program.
- Will address domestic violence issues.
- Works closely with the department clinical staff and provides assistance as needed.
- Will address Co-occurring issues
- Will rotate being on call
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
