Overview
Location: Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos, TX. 76544
Work Schedule: ER RN HCWs will be required to perform services during 8-hour and 12-hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid meal break. Those shifts may include, but are not limited to:
8-hour shifts: o 0645-1515 (6:45am – 3:15pm) o 1045-1915 (10:45am – 7:15pm) o 1445-2315 (2:45pm – 11:15pm) o 1845-0315 (6:45pm – 3:15am) o 2245-0715 (11:45pm – 7:15am)
12-hour shifts: o 0645-1915 (6:45am – 7:15pm) o 1045-2315 (10:45am – 11:15pm) o 1445-0315 (2:45pm – 3:15am) o 1845-0715 (6:45pm – 7:15am)
Pay: Between $50/hr - $57/hr $4.57*/hr for Health & Wellness

Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
- Perform physical exam and health histories.
- Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
- Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
- Transcribe or verify transcription of physician orders.
- Carry out prescribed physician orders and document in patient medical record.
- Be able to initiate life saving measures in the absence of a physician.
- Operate defibrillator, EKG machine, cardiac monitor, and rapid fluid infuser.
- Care for patients with Swan-Ganz catheters, chest tubes, arterial lines and mechanical ventilators (ER).
- React with alertness and skill in any emergency, e.g., behavioral health, cardiac or respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, severe physical trauma, and psychiatric reaction. Serves as member of resuscitation team.
- Coordinate care between triage, treatment and disposition to ensure seamless transitions of care.
Qualifications
- Degree/Education: Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certifications: In addition to BCLS/BLS, certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)/Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required. Certificationz must be obtained through an American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) training program. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained and passed within six (6) months after initial start date.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a practicing RN within the last three (3)years prior to contract execution. Six months out of the 2-years’ experience must have been in a Level III Emergency Room or in a critical care area with four (4) or more beds.
- Licensure: Contract workers requiring licensure shall have and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license specific to the position (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) in one of the 50 US States and/or territories.
