ER Physician

Hours of Performance

The providers shall be able to provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays. Shifts will be 12 hours in length. No guarantee can be made that the shift will end as scheduled. A minimum break of 30 minutes will be given during the shift if patient care permits. Work hours and days will be determined by GLWACH and confirmed by the contractor. A schedule discussed between a contract physician and ER staff is not considered valid. Schedules are subject to change due to cancellations, hospital staff changes, organization day, emergencies, exodus, training holidays and unexpected events. The most a provider can work is six consecutive days in a row and then a minimum of a one day break is required.

Pay $210/hr base

The contract physicians shall meet the following minimum qualifications

2.1.1. The providers shall have graduated from an accredited educational and medical college or university. GLWACH's emergency room is identified as a level III and the ER physicians shall meet the experience, training and certification requirements for a JC level III emergency room. The providers can initially qualify by meeting any one of the following three standards

• The ER physician shall be residency trained in emergency medicine and board certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
• The ER physician shall be residency trained in emergency medicine, board eligible in Emergency Medicine, have 2,000 hours of ER experience after residency and not be out of residency for more than two years. If the ER physician is out of residency for more than two years and still board eligible in emergency medicine, the provider is considered unqualified for this contract.
• The ER physician shall be residency trained and board certified in Pediatrics, Family Practice or Internal Medicine while working more than 20 hours per week for the past 12 consecutive months in a similar or higher level III emergency care institution after board certification.
  
  
  

2.1.2. Providers shall have a minimum of two years’ experience as a practicing provider in the last three years. Residency time counts as practicing experience. Time spent in an administrative capacity as a claims reviewer, medical school instructor, medical director, internet physician, etc. does not qualify as practicing time.

2.1.3.The HCPs shall be a M.D. or D.O. and be capable of treating patients of all ages.

2.1.4. The HCPs shall possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in one of the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or U.S. Virgin Islands and be able to obtain privileges at GLWACH through approval of the credentials committee.

2.1.5. For providers who qualify via 1.2.1.c they shall have and maintain, at all times and at contractor expense, current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certificate by way of an American Heart Association training program. For providers who qualify via 1.2.1.a. and b. they shall only be required to possess and maintain BLS at all times at

contractor expense.

Pay rate $45/hr $4.23HW

• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness. Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
• Admit and help in arranging transfer of patients.
• Screens patient to determine injury/illness.
• Conduct limited medical history interviews; observes or determines changes objective and subjective symptoms and records and reports.
• Attend and participate in inpatient nursing reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences, and other appropriate professional activities as determined by the Chief, Department of Nursing or other designated representative approved by the Contracting Officer.
• Obtain and prepare for analysis blood specimens, urine speciments, stool specimens, and culture specimens.
• Perform venipuncture.
• Perform procedures; Urethral swabs, glucometer, dextrostix, guaiac stool and radial puncture.
• Assists with treatment of patients with Common diseases/communicable diseases, minor injuries, contract poisons, bites or stings, serious acute illness, and minor burns.
• Assists with IV therapy, administers IV fluids, maintains IV fluids rate and administers blood products.
• Performs CPR.
• Controls bleeding.
• Assists in intubations and monitor of ET tube.
• Maintains and operates pulse oximeter, Dynamap, infusion pumps, blood warmer, EKG machine, defibrillator, monitor.
• Degree/Education Registered Nurse shall have an Associate’s degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, or graduate level degree from a program that provides a diploma or degree in nursing from a National League of Nursing (NLN) /American Education Service (AES) accredited school.
• Education Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or as otherwise identified in the TO.
• Experience Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience with in the last three (3) years working in an Emergency room. Must possess knowledge of trauma process, triage and a variety of emergent and semi-emergent techniques.
• Certifications Possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) , Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certifications. Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP through) an American Red Cross approved training program.
