What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist (Bilingual - Temp to Perm) position at Akam Associates Inc?
Reporting to the VP, Human Resources, the Generalist is responsible for providing HR support to the AKAM NY and FL corporate and FL onsite population. This position will be a partner and driver for the People Lifecyle including, Employee Relations, Onboarding, Employee Engagement, Benefits, Leaves, Workers Compensation, HR Reporting and Administration. The ideal candidate will understand AKAM’s business, be proactive and support managers and employees throughout all lifecycle events.
Job Requirements
Employee Relations:
- Provide guidance and support to managers on employee performance management, including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
- Assist with performance improvement plans, investigations, terminations, and employee relations cases.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee relation matters, including conflict resolution and performance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Support the greater HR team on ad hoc projects as needed.
HR Reporting and Administration:
- Consistently analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage the Leave Process in partnership with VP, HR.
- Provide Human Resources policy guidance and interpretation with the business
- Act as the primary contact for all HR administrative aspects across all organizational levels
- Performs other ad hoc duties, as assigned by the VP, Human Resources and Chief People Officer.
Benefits and Leaves Administration:
- Manage all employee benefit enrollment changes in ADP including approving all enrollment/changes requested by employees.
- Oversee and administer all leaves of absences including Short-Term Disability, FMLA, and Worker’s Compensation claims coordinating any disability benefits with other leave programs.
- Troubleshoot issues relating to benefits on employee records, assist employees as needed to complete benefit enrollment, and review all submitted documentation for accuracy.
- Maintain benefit data integrity in ADP by auditing all enrollments to benefit vendors.
- Provide administration of assigned benefit plans including but not limited to reconciling of invoices, assist with filing disability and life claims, retirement program tasks and Wellness program initiatives.
- Assist with employee questions/issues on all benefit plans
- Distribute required documents to employees in a timely manner.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
- Multilingual English - Spanish is a must.
- 3-5 years HR Generalist experience.
- Advanced level of experience with Microsoft Office.
- Experience in working in an HR setting, handling confidential/sensitive information.
- Experience in communicating and leading meetings with all levels of employees.
- Experience communicating with external vendors and agencies, preferred.
- Strong systems aptitude with an eye toward improving processes and methods of work, leveraging automation and technology to simplify and drive consistency.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Proven track record administering retirement, life, and disability plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to think creatively and deliver benefit education materials in an easy-to-read format.
- Ability to work independently as well in a team environment.
- A self-starter with exemplary organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, shift priorities and deliver timely results.
- Adaptable to change, can do attitude.

- Must be available to work onsite in the office 4 days per week
Salary : $30 - $35
