This position oversees the Foundation's financial operations, including daily accounting, fiscal management, compliance, budgeting, and reporting. Collaborating closely with the Board Treasurer and Executive Leadership, the Director of Finance ensures that financial strategies and practices align with the Foundation's short- and long-term goals. This is a Hybrid position in our Raleigh, NC office.
Essential and specific responsibilities include the following - other duties may be assigned.
- Lead financial operations : Direct and oversee all financial transactions, ensuring accurate and timely recording of general ledger activities and preparing monthly financial reports.
- Ensure financial accuracy : Perform monthly reconciliations of all cash and investment accounts.
- Manage audit and tax compliance : Coordinate annual audits and tax filings with third-party providers, ensuring timely and accurate submissions of all required documents.
- Optimize asset management : Oversee fixed assets, track and analyze capital expenditures, and maintain records and summaries.
- Oversee liabilities : Ensure timely payment of liabilities and review of vendor contracts and expenditures for cost-effectiveness and audit readiness.
- Develop a budget : Work closely with the CEO and executive leadership to develop annual and multi-year budgets, advising on revenue and cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate on investment oversight : Participate in quarterly investment meetings to align financial strategies with organizational goals and execute informed investment policy actions.
- Report to donors : Prepare and deliver quarterly Donor Advised Fund statements to donors.
- Ensure financial policy and compliance : Establish, implement, and enforce best practice financial policies, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Advise executives : Provide high-level financial insights, trends, and actionable recommendations to the Board Treasurer, Finance & Audit Committee, Executive Leadership, and Board of Directors to drive mission-focused decision-making.
