HIRING OPENING STAFF!! We are a new Japanese restaurant opening in March at North East area of Seattle.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that delight our customers and uphold the standards of our restaurant. Your expertise in knife skills and food handling will be essential in ensuring the freshness and presentation of each dish.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to health and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, including proper sanitation of utensils and work surfaces.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs to management for ordering supplies.
- Stay updated on sushi trends and techniques to continually enhance menu offerings.
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests when necessary, sharing knowledge about sushi preparation.
Skills
- Proven experience as a cook or chef in a restaurant setting, preferably with a focus on sushi or Asian cuisine.
- Strong knife skills with the ability to perform precise cuts for sushi preparation.
- Knowledge of food handling practices and safety regulations within the food industry.
- Experience in catering or meal preparation is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Passion for culinary arts, particularly in Japanese cuisine, with an eagerness to learn and grow within the role.
