Position Overview:
As a Quality Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality at AKG of America in Mebane, North Carolina. Your primary responsibility will be to inspect cooling packages and related components, verifying that they meet blueprint specifications and quality standards. You will ensure that all materials are compliant before production begins and maintain accurate inspection records. This position requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and strong organizational skills to document and report quality issues. Your contributions will directly support the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous product improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect Cooling Packages: Ensure that all cooling packages meet blueprint specifications and quality standards through thorough inspection and testing.
- Maintain Inspection Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate inspection reports for all products, ensuring clear and detailed records are available for compliance and review.
- Pre-Production Inspection: Inspect castings before use in the welding department, ensuring materials meet quality standards, and label storage containers appropriately to prevent errors in production.
- Helicoil Verification: Utilize tools like drills to verify helicoil placement on specific coolers, tagging non-conforming products for further review.
- Report Quality Issues: Promptly report any quality or compliance issues to supervisors or relevant personnel, ensuring swift corrective actions are taken.
- Adhere to Safety & Environmental Policies: Follow all company safety protocols and environmental management systems to ensure safe, compliant work practices.
- Employee Training and Mentorship: Support training for entry-level inspectors, assisting with skill-building to foster long-term career growth within the company.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret basic blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accuracy in product specifications and assembly requirements.
- Warranty Support: Collaborate with the Warranty Technicians to inspect returned products for quality issues, providing valuable insights into product improvements.
- Calibration Support: Assist the Quality Administrator with calibration tasks, ensuring all measuring tools and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.

Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional technical certifications in quality control or manufacturing preferred.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in a quality inspection or manufacturing role, with hands-on experience in blueprint reading and product testing.
- Skills & Knowledge:
o Strong ability to interpret detailed blueprints and technical specifications.
o Proficiency in basic math, measurement tools, and inspection processes
o Basic blueprint reading knowledge is preferred (training is available for the right candidate).
- Communication & Detail-Oriented: Strong communication skills for reporting quality issues, along with the ability to maintain detailed inspection records and documentation.
- Team Player: Collaborative approach to working with supervisors and other team members to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and walk for majority of the shift (approx. 80%).
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally, with the use of forklifts and material-handling equipment as needed.
- Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling may be required for certain inspection tasks.
- Safety equipment provided: steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
