Position Overview:
As the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the safety and environmental management systems at AKG of America in Mebane, North Carolina. You will be responsible for developing and implementing safety procedures and policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining an ISO 14001:2015 certified environmental management system. This position involves both strategic oversight and hands-on guidance to promote a culture of safety while minimizing environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate and regulatory agency inquiries regarding Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) matters.
- Provide daily guidance and leadership on EHS programs, fostering a culture of safety by modeling incident prevention and safe work practices.
- Develop and implement communication strategies that ensure EHS priorities and performance are clearly communicated across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations by maintaining accurate records, reports, and systems.
- Offer on-the-ground safety coaching and recognition to employees to promote continuous safety improvement.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate potential EHS risks and loss exposures to safeguard both employees and the organization.
- Coordinate and manage regulatory inspections, ensuring timely corrective actions for any identified deficiencies.
- Oversee the tracking and compliance of environmental permits, ensuring adherence to local, state. and federal regulations.
- Lead and manage pollution control, prevention, and recycling programs, promoting sustainability across operations.
- Develop and deliver engaging safety and emergency response training to all employees, fostering a prepared and safety-conscious workforce.
- Collaborate with the VP of Operations to implement facility-wide incident prevention strategies and enhance safe work practices.
- Ensure that contractors on-site comply with AKG’s EHS policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: 1-5 years of experience in EHS, Safety, and Accident/Injury Administration, with a focus on manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for environmental and safety standards.
- Certifications: Experience with ISO 14001:2015 environmental management systems is a plus.
- Training Expertise: Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging, effective safety training programs.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a people-focused approach to driving safety initiatives.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office; experience with EHS software and systems is highly desirable.
- Communication & Problem-Solving: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines efficiently.
