Job Description

Akiak Technology, LLC is seeking a Senior IT Program/Project Manager who is an experienced leader specializing in overseeing complex IT projects with a success demonstrated history of working within civilian and defense industries. This position is an integral part of the company’s leadership team.   

On direct IT management projects, the Senior IT Program/Project Manager will facilitate the completion of specific GOVCON client projects by coordinating the activities of an entire team.  This includes overseeing the planning and implementation of an entire project through budgeting, hiring team members, sourcing suppliers, and planning the project release.  In this role, this role hosts project meetings at least once a week with team and managers; provide feedback, advice, project updates and encouragement to team members; manage deadlines and push team to ensure timeliness. 

As the company grows, the Senior IT Program/Project Manager will lead a portfolio of project teams and provide a higher level and wider scope of oversight. Involved with multiple projects, the Senior IT Program/Project Manager will support program management and project management office duties.  The position has the authority to run projects on a day-to-day basis and delegate tasks to individual project managers.  This position will coach junior project managers.

The Senior IT Program/Project Manager develops and executes a communication strategy for all the different project stakeholders, including senior leadership, external partners, clients, vendors, and suppliers.  This role will report on project status, progress, metrics, risks, test results, and deployment activities. The responsibility also includes providing feedback, advice, and encouragement to the project managers and team members. 

This Position reports directly to Vice President Client Services, Akiak Technology, LLC. This is a supervisory position.

Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrate servant leadership, coach teams in SAFe and Agile best practices, stay updated on AI technologies, understand business requirements promptly, resolve conflicts, and apply Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and DevSecOps processes.
• Manage day to day operations of project staff.
• Ownership of contract performance and customer relationship.
• Primary point of contact for the customer regarding to program performance.
• Lead and manage large-scale programs within the GOVCON sector, focusing on project initiation. 
• Utilize PMP/Agile methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement program strategies.
• Provide strategic guidance to stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Manage the portfolio of program risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
• Monitor program performance and prepare reports for stakeholders.
• Responsible for recruiting and hiring.
• This position is supervisory and responsible for annual performance evaluations.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Minimum of 10 – 14 years of experience in project management. 
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field. 
• PMP certification is required. 
  

• Experience leading software delivery teams within an Agile framework as well as supporting infrastructure environments.
• Knowledge of AI-related tools and platforms. 
• Familiarity with AI technologies and their implementation in enterprise environments. 
• Successful experience leading major digital transformations to enhance capabilities and improve service delivery, business performance, and data quality.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing federal IT compliance requirements, team effort (including subcontractors), and budgets within a federal contracted environment.
