Salary :
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records and perform other duties within the accounting department.
The primary responsibilities for this position include :
Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
Assists with the management and maintenance of the organizations time keeping system, ensuring coding is set up and utilized appropriately.
Help with the preparation of the monthly balance sheet and profit and loss statements.
Records payable invoices and expenses into the accounting system, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and closes the monthly books.
Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Manages the purchasing, credit cards and invoicing system.
Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Maintains vendors records of W-9 and COIs.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills required by the position :
Bachelors degree in accounting, or related field, required.
At least three years of related experience required.
Experience in accounting in the government sector is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles, DCAA and FAR compliance.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Teams and SharePoint or similar software, and accounting software.
Demonstrated experience in general financial accounting and cost accounting
Must be a U.S. citizen.
May be required to obtain a Public Trust or Security Clearance.
Supervisory Controls :
This position reports directly to the Controller, who provides administrative direction.
Supervisor oversight includes :
Non-Supervisory (General) : This position works in an environment that includes supervisory oversight of general assignments.
Tribal Relationships :
The employee may interact with tribal citizens and tribal communities. As such, is responsible for adopting a culture of advocacy while protecting tribal interests. Must be respectful and sensitive to the unique sovereignty and tribal governance issues.
Physical Demands :
Work is primarily indoors in an office setting. No unusual physical activity is required. You may travel to Alaska, and in doing so will expose the employee to extreme cold : temperatures typically -10 up to -50 degrees below freezing wind chill for periods of up to 5 hours outside, with frequent breaks in warm dry areas. Employee must be able to lift their personal luggage and any personal equipment / supplies and climb into and out of small planes with confined spaces.
Writing / Communication :
The employee may support federal programs under contract. Therefore, contract compliance activities, including scope of work, deliverables, and reporting on contract management activities to Company leadership is required.
Teleworking : The company has a teleworking policy for all employees and is dependent upon the type of position.This position may be assigned to support a federal contract. The Companys teleworking eligibility may not apply if the employee is supporting a federal services contract. In this instance, the employee may be subject to federal telework policies and may be required to work onsite in the federal facility when requested.
Position Sensitivity and Risk Designation : Moderate Risk
The position may support federal or state contracts. When required, the employee must at least go through a basic background check that can yield a moderate-risk designation and to make sure you are reliable, trustworthy, and suitable for the job. A moderate riskposition is likely to produce a fair amount of harm or serious damage to the public s trust. The agency with whom the contract is with will ask you for the necessary personal information to start the background investigation process. The amount of information you ll need to give depends on the contract award. Following the investigation, the agency will make their trustworthiness determination.
Employee Non-Disclosure :
The employee must sign and attest to the Companys non-disclosure statement. The employee is responsible for reporting to the Companys Compliance, Risk and Ethics Officer any conflicts of interest, and / or provide notification of outside employment, or when release of confidential business isshared with external parties.
