Type: Contract, Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM (excluding lunch breaks, Federal holidays, administrative facility closures, approved absences, and emergencies)

About the Organization:
The Western Oregon Service Unit (WOSU), also known as the Chemawa Indian Health Center, is an Indian Health Service (IHS) outpatient health center accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). WOSU provides healthcare services to over 5,000 American Indian and Alaska Native patients and serves as the sole healthcare provider for students at Chemawa Indian School. The school is a boarding facility for high school students representing more than 100 tribes across the United States.
Indigenous populations face significant healthcare disparities, including higher suicide rates compared to other racial and ethnic groups. To address this, WOSU is expanding its behavioral health services to meet the critical needs of its community.

Position Overview:
The Clinical Psychologist will provide essential behavioral health services to American Indian and Alaska Native patients at WOSU, including students from Chemawa Indian School. This role focuses on delivering patient-centered, culturally competent care through assessment, therapy, counseling, case management, and program development. The incumbent will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance substance abuse prevention, treatment, and aftercare services.

Key Responsibilities:

Therapeutic Services:
-Provide intensive individual and group therapy for patients, with a focus on substance abuse, addiction, and co-occurring disorders.
-Develop and implement patient treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
-Collaborate with patients’ care teams to promote a holistic approach to behavioral health.

Program Development and Coordination:
-Act as a coordinator for substance abuse activities within the Chemawa Student Behavioral Health Center (CBHC).
-Participate in the development of comprehensive behavioral health programs for students.
-Consult on case and program needs to ensure alignment with AAAHC and IHS standards.

Collaboration and Community Engagement:
-Work closely with Chemawa Indian School staff, tribal health services, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote behavioral health and addiction prevention.
-Serve as a liaison for multidisciplinary care planning and coordination.

Training and Education:
-Conduct training programs for staff, students, and families on topics such as addiction recovery, crisis intervention, and cultural sensitivity.
-Participate in best-practices training to ensure services align with IHS standards.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:
-Maintain compliance with IHS immunization requirements, licensing processes, and service unit policies.
-Participate in accreditation, quality improvement, and performance evaluation initiatives.
-Provide monthly program evaluation data, including patient metrics and program impact.

Cultural Competency:
-Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity to the traditions of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
-Support the integration of cultural practices into treatment and recovery processes.

Qualifications:

Education: Master’s, doctoral, or equivalent degree from a psychology program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

Licensure: Current, unrestricted license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent, valid in the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territories. Must remain in good standing throughout the contract term.

Experience: Proven expertise in providing behavioral health services, including substance abuse prevention, treatment, and aftercare.

Skills and Competencies:
-Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic practices and addiction recovery methodologies.
-Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and maintain harmonious relationships with colleagues, patients, and their families.
-Proficiency in program evaluation, data collection, and reporting.
-Cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of Indigenous populations.
-Excellent communication, organizational, and case management skills.

Tour of Duty:
40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, excluding lunch breaks, Federal holidays, and facility closures.
