Ideally, you will be responsible for handling purchases made by the organization, evaluating and approving vendors, and authorizing purchase orders to ensure a smooth procurement process. This role requires a strong understanding of procurement concepts, industry best practices, and organizational needs to make informed purchasing decisions. You will work independently while reporting to a manager, utilizing sound judgment, creativity, and problem-solving skills to meet procurement goals efficiently.
Pay Range: $30-45/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Type: 12 months contract
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review requisitions and ensure procurement needs are met.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain product/service information, including pricing, availability, and delivery timelines.
- Select suppliers in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager based on criteria such as quality certification, capacity analysis, and financial stability.
- Evaluate products through testing, observation, or examination.
- Estimate product values based on market prices.
- Determine procurement methods (direct purchase vs. bidding).
- Prepare purchase orders or bid requests.
- Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budget and authority.
- Maintain procurement records, including purchases, costs, deliveries, product quality, and inventory.
- Resolve issues related to defective or unacceptable goods/services by working with quality control, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Approve invoices for payment.
- Expedite the delivery of goods to end users.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 4 years of experience in procurement or a related area.
- Knowledge of MRP systems (Oracle preferred).
