What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gage Calibration Technician position at Akkodis?
Akkodis is seeking a Gage Calibration Technician for a 2-3 month contract job with a medical device client in Dayton, OH. This role is responsible for distribution and calibration of assigned gages, R&R studies, maintaining assigned gages, gage procedures, calibration procedures, and calibration standards.
Rate Range: $25.00/hour to $30.00/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Gage Calibration Technician job responsibilities include:
- Distribution of gages to manufacturing for use.
- Tests, calibrates, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards.
- Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment, according to blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and other specifications. Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
- Disassembles instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects components for defects.
- Measures parts for conformity with specifications, using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments.
- Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry.
- Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment.
- Devises formulas to solve problems in measurement and calibrations.
- Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
- Purchase or assist with purchase of gages for new product as well as current product needs.
- Stores and organizes calibration records within the confines of the control system.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum High School or GED required
- Preferred Vocational / Technical ASQ CCT certification preferred.
- 1-3 years of previous experience as a quality technician or similar.
- Proficient in use of various test equipment such as CMM, optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, pin gages, etc.
- Ability to interpret Engineering and Manufacturing documents and instrument manufacturers technical manuals and procedures.
- Organization and record keeping skills.
- Verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
