IT Systems Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an IT Systems Engineer for a Contract position with a client located in Rochester, NY.

Rate Range: $25-$27/hr on W2 without benefits, The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors

ABOUT THE ROLE:

• Looking for 3 years of experience. Ideally, a broad background to include Windows/Windows Server, some Networking, O365 and Printer Support capability along with the support of 3rd party business applications.
• Supporting multiple locations so there will be an on-call component (1 week/month estimate) This individual will interface with all departments and all levels of management on a daily basis at multiple locations.
• The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining the organization’s information technology infrastructure under the direction of the IT manager. This position will interface with all departments and all levels of management regularly.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Implements, and maintains scalable, secure and performant IT systems
• Creates detailed system documentation and training collateral
• Secures systems utilizing the principle of least privilege (PoLP)
• Creates, tests, refines, and deploys Microsoft Group Policies
• Install, test and maintain the various components of a computer system
• Manage and monitor network systems
• Perform routine audits of systems and software
• Troubleshoot malfunctioning hardware and software

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to conduct research and independently learn new technical concepts
• Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision or as part of a team.
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the following: o Microsoft Windows Server and Domain environment (Active Directory / Certificate Authorities / DFS / DHCP / DNS / NPS / WDS / WSUS)
• Experience with one or more cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google, Microsoft O365) iSCSI and SAN, Networking: firewalls, routers, witches/VLAN, 802.1x, VoIP, Esxi, Veeam, VoIP, Sophos, Patch management.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computing and Information Technologies or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
• Requires advanced to expert knowledge of a broad range of IT functions (systems administration, networking, security, server support)
• 3 years of experience in server and network support
• Minimum of five years End User onsite and remote technical support
• One or more Microsoft certifications (MCSE Core Infrastructure / MCSA Server) (Nice to have)
