Akkodis is seeking a network engineer for one of our clients in Irvine, CA.
Rate Range: $80.00/hour to $90.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
The network engineer will be chiefly responsible for developing a new network from the ground up to support a special project. This encompasses a broad range of tasks, with a special emphasis on the design and implementation of a VPN as a key component of this new network. The role is hands-on and requires planning, execution, and management of the network infrastructure to support our changing business environment.
This role is 100% on-site in Irvine. Seeking local candidates at this time.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Essential Functions
- Plan, design and implement a new network infrastructure for a special project.
- Design and implement a VPN as a critical element of the new network.
- Configure and manage VPN connections for security and efficiency.
- Identify requirements and set up necessary network configurations, including ports and endpoints.
- Ensure compliance to existing company design and security standards for networks.
- Manage and implement firewall modifications and enforce network security measures.
- Validate all network changes to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive project plan for the network setup.
- Work collaboratively with internal staff and external vendors to align network architecture with business objectives.
- Provide technical support and expert advice on network-related issues.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in F5 firewalls, F5 VPN hardware/software, Cisco switches, and multifactor authentication software.
- Strong knowledge of VPN technologies and network security.
- Proven experience in project planning and network infrastructure implementation.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CISSP) are preferred.
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware, which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
