Akkodis is looking for a Senior IT Project Manager in Bohemia, NY. Ideally, you will lead and manage IT technical projects from inception to completion. This role requires expertise in project governance, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management methodologies, the ability to operate in a matrix organization, and a track record of successfully delivering IT projects on time and within budget.
Pay Range: $60-$70/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Type: 8 months contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead projects from discovery through design, building the Business Case with comprehensive budget planning for final approval.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of projects, including work assignments, resource mobilization, and monitoring key dimensions (progress, risks, opportunities, issues, schedule, budget, etc.).
- Ensure project delivery aligns with sponsors' expectations, timelines, and expected business benefits.
- Facilitate timely decision-making processes.
- Establish and ensure adherence to project governance frameworks.
- Develop key project documents such as Project Charters, Project Plans, Status Reports, and executive/Steering Committee presentations.
- Coach, support, and engage the Project Team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Clearly define roles and responsibilities, providing regular feedback on performance.
- Ensure successful delivery of key project components.
- Capture and document lessons learned.
- Evaluate achievement of objectives and Business Case assumptions.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of project management experience, with at least 2 years managing IT technical projects.
- Certification and ability to coach in project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile).
- Proficient in Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively within a Matrix Organization with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, adaptable, digitally agile, customer-centric, innovative, and result-oriented.
