Job Description Summary  

We are looking for a motivated and skilled Senior Computer Vision Engineer to join Vision and Analytics team as individual contributor, focused on developing state-of-the-art image analysis algorithms for applications spanning Research Use Only (RUO), Investigational Use Only (IUO), and regulated diagnostic product development. These algorithms are integral to both internal innovation and external collaborations, driving advancements in digital pathology and diagnostic solutions.  

This position plays a pivotal role in shaping industry-leading products designed to elevate patient care standards. The ideal candidate will leverage their deep expertise in image analysis, machine learning, and software integration to design robust, reliable, and impactful solutions. Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement cutting-edge image analysis algorithms tailored for Akoya’s needs 
  • Research and implement techniques throughout the development lifecycle from requirements to prototyping and deploying to clinical environment 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning models within diagnostic workflows 
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for diagnostic product development 
  • Contribute to the imaging excellence across research, services, and product offerings by achieving imaging algorithm robustness through extensive test method development and performance characterization 
  • Stay current with the latest computer vision and machine learning technologies and methodologies and make recommendations to improve efficiency and accuracy 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and test analytical solutions that meet the needs of the business 
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, managing relationships and communication across departments 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

 

Qualifications/Skills  

  • MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science focusing on Computer Vision and Machine learning (PhD preferred) 
  • 4 years (2 years for PhD) of industry experience with image analysis, machine learning, and/or pattern recognition 
  • Hands on experience in one or more of the following disciplines: immunofluorescence, IHC, microscopy, cell image analysis, data visualization, data mining, and classification  
  • Knowledge and practical experience with regulatory compliance and standards related to diagnostic products, including FDA, CLIA, or similar regulatory environments 
  • Proficiency in Python for programming and algorithm development 
  • Expertise in software design, including object-oriented programming (OOP), design patterns, and software architecture to build robust and scalable systems 
  • Familiarity with software integration and testing in production environments 
  • Strong ability to draft technical reports that effectively communicate progress and results effectively to the team and stakeholders 
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to coordinate resources and collaborate across teams to ensure timely execution of assignments 
  • Capable of working independently with reasonable guidance, while effectively managing tasks and responsibilities  
  • Strong sense of urgency, with the ability to prioritize tasks and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 

 

Travel: 

  • Potential for travel is 10-15% to work with key partners and internal colleagues. 

 

The hiring range for this position is $165,000 - $200,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
