Job Summary :
This position seeks an adept Bioinformatics Research Scientist with profound expertise in computational biology, microbial genomics, and data science to join our Pharma Analytics R&D Team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing new and updating existing marker sequence libraries for microbial identification, leveraging computational methods and pipelines to enhance microbial nomenclature characterization. The role involves a blend of research and development, collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and mentoring interns in bioinformatics methodologies.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, maintain, and update genomic databases through standardized and, where possible, automated workflows.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and optimize processes and workflows; develop quality metrics and standardize computational methods.
- Design and maintain applications for transforming biological data into searchable databases, ensuring timely and proper execution of development, analysis, and documentation.
- Collaborate with bench scientists to optimize database performance and interpret data; engage with other scientists, developers, and stakeholders for project success.
- Train interns and staff scientists, maintain accurate records of updates and workflow changes, and remain abreast of developments in the field.
Must-Have Skills :
Industry Experience :
Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, particularly in R&D, is highly preferred. Knowledge or experience in molecular biology-based analysis (PCR, capillary electrophoresis, NGS) and familiarity with cloud computing and version control for collaborative projects are advantageous.
