About the Role
The Engineering Department at AKRF is seeking a Senior Civil Roadway Engineer to be based out of New York City, NY. This individual will serve a key function in the design of public roadway and infrastructure projects for our broad range of New York City and State agency clients. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of New York.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and/or support design and production of plans, specifications, and deliverables of capital improvement projects for roadway, drainage, and utility infrastructure in New York City.
- Support project management responsibilities including managing discrete tasks, project schedule and budget.
- Support preparation of proposals for pursuit of new opportunities.
- Provide direction, delegation, mentoring, and training to staff engineers.
- Day-to-day project communication and coordination with team members.
Essential Requirements:
- 7-12 years’ experience.
- Min. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- Strongly prefer NYS PE (or the ability to obtain the PE licensure within 6-12 months of hire).
- Experience with NYCDDC and NYCDOT strongly preferred
- Experience with NYSDOT, NYCEDC, NYCDEP, PANYNJ and/or MTA a plus
- Strong technical knowledge of roadway design including alignments, grading and drainage, utility relocation, water main, sewer, traffic signals, street lighting, and MPT/construction phasing
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Microstation / OpenRoads a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Superior attention to detail and organizational ability
Compensation
Compensation will range from $95 to $135K, and commensurate with experience.
