Akro Engineering is a small structural engineering firm located in Michigan’s Upper peninsula. We are seeking qualified engineering students (Juniors, Seniors, or Graduate Level) for a full-time summer internship or co-op (summer semester) opportunity at our Wallace, MI office starting in Summer 2025.
Job Description:
The person selected for this position will work with project teams involved in structural engineering and related technical assignments. Project assignments may include structural design and analysis, preparation of plans and specifications, report writing, cost estimating, and construction inspection/observation. The work will primarily be for commercial and residential projects including residential developments, commercial and manufacturing facilities, and industrial projects. Minimum Qualifications
- Ongoing enrollment in an ABET-accredited civil or structural engineering degree program
- Familiarity with word processing and EXCEL
- Strong communication skills
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
- Ability to self-learn
- A flexible working style as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
- Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- GPA: 3.0
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Excel, and structural engineering analysis software such as RISA 3D or STAAD Pro
- Completion of at least one semester of upper division (junior/senior level) engineering coursework (including structural analysis, steel design, and concrete design)
Compensation
The anticipated base hourly range for this position is $22 - $26/hour. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation will vary based upon relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
Salary : $20 - $30
