POSITION SUMMARY :

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position is responsible for managing and administering child care programs at designated YMCA program locations. This responsibility includes supervising child care staff, creating and / or supporting the implementation of appropriate lesson plan intervention, and maintaining site records, and additional programs responsibilities to ensure state licensure compliance and overall effective program management. Requires travel to and from branch locations for assigned duties, trainings, or meetings, or work programs in other areas as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Ensure that activities are safe and fun for all children and staff by having all individual needs met.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
  • Comply with all ODJFS state licensing, Step Up to Quality, YMCA, and school district standards.
  • Responsible for achieving and maintaining Step Up to Quality star ratings.
  • Ensure compliance of all ODJFS state licensing guidelines and requirements; assists in site audits.
  • Assist in creating and providing resources to families in accordance with Step Up to Quality requirement and school district standards.
  • Fill in for staff when necessary to maintain ratio.
  • Complete menus and prepare weekly snack for programs in accordance with licensing requirements.
  • Communicate with staff, participant families, and schools on a regular basis.
  • Ensures weekly schedule and programming of activities are meeting expectations.
  • Establishes and implements methods to ensure a positive work environment.
  • Follows established guidelines for all purchases and billing procedures.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and upkeep of facilities with prompt reporting any maintenance concerns.
  • Coordinates the check-in and check-out process each day.
  • Acts as a liaison to the parents and the schools as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Must qualify under ODJFS stipulations to be a site administrator, Career Pathways Level (CPL) 3 and / or School Age Endorsement Certification required
  • At least two years of experience working with children
  • Must maintain professionalism and have strong communication, organization and administrative skills
  • Must believe in YMCA's philosophy and mission and be willing to teach, model and implement character development values
  • Must be flexible and take initiative as well as maintain a positive and professional attitude
  • Must possess valid driver's license and have reliable transportation
  • Must complete required OCCRRA trainings
  • Four-year degree in related field preferred
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • This job involves sitting and standing for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and climbing
  • Must be able to physically assist a child and be able to lift up to 50lbs independently
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The employee will work both indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to travel and work at multiple off-site locations
  • The employee will frequently physically interact with children
