What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Assistant - Camp Y-Noah (31) position at Akron Area YMCA?
The Nursing Assistant will work along side our camp RN as our main point of contact for First Aid during the summer. This staff member will gain experience working with campers, following med-pass procedures, and speaking professionally to parents. All while getting to experience the fun and excitement of Summer Camp!
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 19 years of age and a High School graduate (preferred).
- At least one year of college or equivalent life/work-experience (preferred).
- 2 years of experience in a related field (preferred)
- BCI/FBI background check results prior to first day of work; results must be compliant with ODJFS Prohibitive Convictions per 5101:2-12 and 5101:2-13 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
- Must be able to receive and apply critical feedback in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to make appropriate decisions regarding childcare and program.
- He or she must also pass First Aid and CPR training (offered during or before staff training).
THIS IS A LIVE ON SITE POSITION FROM MAY 18th THROUGH AUGUST 2nd
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS | NURSE ASSISTANT
- Provides basic First Aid/CPR as needed
- Distributes medications following the established Med-Pass procedure.
- Supervise summer staff as it relates to the health and wellbeing of campers.
- Follow treatment protocols.
- Contacts parents, camp doctor, and other health care professionals as necessary.
- Ensures that all accident reports and incident reports are completed properly and given to supervisor timely.
- Maintains health lodge inventory.
- Collects all medications from staff and campers on check in days and dispenses them as prescribed.
- Documents all treatments, evaluations, medications administered, and unusual circumstances.
- Supervises any campers and/or staff while in the health lodge.
- Reviews camper files prior to each session and notifies necessary staff of concerns and/or special circumstances.
QUALIFICATIONS | NURSE ASSISTANT
- Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration, or equivalents
- 2 Years of experience in a related field (preferred)
