Volunteer Center Coordinator-AKRON
The Volunteer Center Coordinator provides an excellent volunteer experience through professional, courteous, and friendly interactions. This position safeguards and promotes the Foodbank’s commitment to food safety and requires a high degree of integrity, service, and urgency in all related matters; interacts daily with volunteers from the community, including schools, churches, corporations, etc; coordinates food salvage and repack projects; accurately records and maintains metrics; fully supports the departmental operations; strengthens and enhances the volunteer experience; maintains the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank standards and supports the overall mission of the organization. Hourly Pay; $18.00. Shift M-F, 8am-4pm.
Job Responsibilities:
- Welcome, direct and assist volunteers
- Set up, coordinate, and clean up volunteer projects
- Pre-sort, load line pulling all recalled items and discarding unsalvageable items before they get to the line
- Accurately record metrics from each project managed and report to supervisor
- Label finished product and place in designated area
- Receive and accurately record donations
- Condense incoming salvage and donations
- Assist with monthly inventory – counting and weighing product
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma with basic math skills
- Must be able to follow all American Institute of Baking, Feeding America, Food and Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture, Occupational Safety Hazard Administration, and Foodbank (standard operating procedures and employee handbook) safety regulations
- Commitment to outstanding customer service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and patiently with a diverse group of individuals, including children, young adults, elderly, and physically and mentally challenged
- High level of interpersonal skills is required
- Ability to produce quality work with minimal supervision
- Must have current skills in the operation of tow motor, lift truck, pallet truck and be able to pass OSHA testing for lift truck operation
- Must have basic computer knowledge
- Warehouse and dock experience, preferred
- Ability to work overtime and weekends, as needed
- Ability to maintain accurate records or metrics
