QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Previous interscholastic high school and/or youth track coaching experience.
- Appropriate C.P.R. and Pupil Activity Certification prior to beginning of season.
- Strong knowledge of track skills, fundamentals, rules, etc.
- Must be willing to commit to evening and weekend practices and events as dictated by the athletic season schedule.
- Valid Ohio teaching licensure;
- Successful experience as a teacher;
- Current Akron Public Schools full-time contract teacher.
- Assist with development and implementation of the Track program according to the rules and regulations of the Akron Public Schools and the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
- Assist with the development and coordination of the season schedule, practice schedules, etc.
- Assist with securing transportation services for practices, matches, etc. as required.
- Assist with recruitment of students to become involved with theTrack program at Firestone CLC.
- Assist with the development and implementation of skills training, athletic conditioning and training programs; implement safety measures as necessary and related to the Track program.
- Assist with organization and managment of practice sessions, etc. ensure safety of student athletes at all times;
- Assists with monitoring student athlete academic progress; conduct study tables, study sessions, etc. as needed.
- Assist with monitoring eligibility of student athletes involved in the Track program;
- Assist student athletes with college recruitment and scholarship opportunities as applicable;
- Coordinates the use of the practice facilities and equipment where applicable;
- Attends appropriate workshops and clinics as necessary to remain abreast of current procedures and requirements;
- Reports to the Athletic Director and Principal.
