QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Previous interscholastic high school and/or youth cheerleading coaching experience.
- Appropriate C.P.R. and Pupil Activity Certification prior to beginning of season.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cheerleading skills, fundamentals, rules, etc.
- Must be willing to commit to evening/weekend practices and events as dictated by the athletic season schedule.
- Valid Ohio teaching licensure;
- Successful experience as a teacher;
- Current Akron Public Schools full-time contract teacher.
- Develop, implement, train and advise a varsity cheerleading squad within the rules and regulations of the Akron Public Schools and the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
- Assists with the development and coordination of the season schedule and events that the cheerleading squad will participate in.
- Develop conditioning and training/practice programs; implement safety measures as necessary and related to the cheerleading program.
- Organize and manage practice sessions, etc. ensure safety of student athletes at all times.
- Management of selected coaching staff, if applicable, ensuring that assigned personnel adhere to guidelines and regulations that pertain to the athletic program.
- Monitor student athlete academic progress.
- Monitor eligibility of student athletes involved in the cheerleading program.
- Assist student athletes with college recruitment and scholarship opportunities as applicable.
- Coordinate the use of the practice facilities and equipment where applicable.
- Attend appropriate workshops and clinics as necessary to remain abreast of current procedures and requirements.
- Reports to the Athletic Director and Principal.
