The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a Science Teacher for the Juvenile Detention Center, Job Code 006, TS 380 (190 days), Starting Salary $46,608.70. Collective Bargaining Unit – AEA. This position is a State Teachers Retirement System position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: All of the following must be met at the time of application except where noted:
- Valid State of Ohio 7-12 Science, teaching certificate/licensure; (A current copy of license must be included with the application.)

- Experiences with multi-cultural population
Description:
- Monitoring/improving student behavior, attendance, academic progress;
- Designing a program which enhances educational, social/emotional development growth;
- Incorporating into the program a range of social services to benefit the overall development of the students;
- Compiling data necessary to evaluate the success of the program;
- Working with businesses/community agencies to provide further educational, personal, and career growth opportunities for all students;
- Keeping in close contact with home through periodic visits, phone calls and written communications;
- Reporting to and carrying out any other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
