The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for Early Learning Program Coordinator, Job Code 076, TS 522 (260 Days), Salary $103,533.69. Collective Bargaining Unit – none. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position. This is a grant funded position.

Position Summary:

The position of Early Learning Program Coordinator provides coordination of the academic, social, and emotional development for scholars and scholars with a disability assigned to the district’s Early Learning Program. This position is responsible for ensuring that all Early Learning scholars are performing at or above identified levels and that the program meets and complies with federal, state and District standards.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.

  • Supports and implements the District’s Blueprint for Excellence-Strategic Plan;
  • Create, support and maintain a positive workplace culture;
  • Ensures that appropriate resources and services are provided for early intervention with at-risk scholars and students on an IEP in their least restrictive environment;
  • Supports the implementation of intervention assistance teams to guide integrated intervention services using the MTSS model as established within Akron Public Schools;
  • Provides consultation and assistance, through observation and discussion, to personnel to assure continuity among evaluation data, the Individual Education Plan, and daily lesson plans;
  • Assists in parent conferences, Evaluation Team Report (ETR) meetings, development of Individual Education Plans (IEP), and periodic reviews to assure that appropriate specialized services are provided for scholars with identified disabilities;
  • Assist in the development of high quality, compliant IEP and ETR;
  • Serve as district representative during IEP and ETR meetings;
  • Support data collection and progress monitoring for students with disabilities;
  • Participates and is highly visible in the community at district events;
  • Weekly visits to Early Learning program sites are expected;
  • Assists with development and implementation of program policies and procedures relating to federal and state laws and standards relating to special education;
  • Attends and actively engaged in professional development designed to keep abreast of updates, research and best practices related to early childhood development and students with disabilities;
  • In-depth knowledge of Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards and Ohio’s Kindergarten through Grade 3 Standards in the core curriculum, enrichment strategies, and targeted or intensive strategies;
  • Knowledge of Ohio’s Revised Learning Standards in ELA and Mathematics and an ability to share this knowledge with others;
  • Monitoring data, including state, local and district assessment results, to drive decisions at the school and classroom level for students with a disability;
  • Reports to and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Early Learning Program Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience in general education, special education, or related services (i.e. School Psychology, School Counseling, Speech/Language Pathologist).
  • Current Principal License or Administrative/Professional License.

Preferred:

  • Early Childhood Intervention Specialist License.
  • Prior experience as a Principal (elementary or early childhood program).
  • Experience in curriculum development processes for early childhood education.
  • Early Childhood Education experience in some capacity.
  • Experience in Special Education teaching and/or policy and procedure development.
