The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a Home Instructor, Job Code 038, TS 380 (190 Days). This position requires availability during regular daytime hours and is not an after-school role. Candidates must be able to provide instruction during the day. Starting Rate TBD. Collective Bargaining Unit – AEA. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position.

Qualifications - Required:
Valid Intervention Specialist/Special Education certification/licensure in the State of Ohio.
Desired:
Demonstrates knowledge of instructional strategies;
Experience in planning, developing and conducting instruction in a one-one setting;
Commitment to work with scientifically-based research instructional practices;
Experience working collaboratively with families, teachers, building staff and office of Special Education;
Commitment to work 24 hrs. per week at JDC

Position Description:
- Administers, scores and records the standardized pre and post-test of target pupils;
- Communicates with the intervention specialist to identify pupil needs;
- Reports pupil progress to classroom teacher, program personnel and/or parents;
- Coordinates the supplementary program instruction with that of the regular instructional program;
- Keeps up-to-date records of students with disability progress; and
- Performs all other duties as directed by the Director of Special Education or his designee.
- Reports to JDC 24 hours per week, follows Akron Public School's calendar.
