The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a Teacher, Job Code 008, TS 388 (190
Days). Salary TBD. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position. Extended time may be required before and/or after the school year or day for this position which would be compensated at the hourly extended time rate. Collective Bargaining Unit - AEA. This is a State Teachers Retirement
System position.
The TENTATIVE I PROMISE School teacher calendar will be July 25, 2022 - May 23, 2023.
Beginning of the year professional development for teachers will be in June (TBD) and July 25-28,
2022. The work day will be from 8:45 a.m.-4:15 p.m. The I PROMISE School has the same number of work and school days as a traditional Akron Public School; the calendar is set up differently.

School Description: The I PROMISE School (IPS) is a partnership between the Akron Public Schools and the LeBron James Family Foundation. IPS is a STEM school serving students who need specific supports on academics and social emotional learning needs. The school will eventually serve students in grades 3 -8 during a non-traditional school year (July 25, 2022- May 19, 2023). The school day will be 9 am-4 pm.

Required
- The applicant must have a valid teaching license in the state Ohio in one or more of the following areas:
- P-3 w/4-5 endorsement
- K – 8
- 4 – 9

- Develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies for each student’s academic growth;
- Use technology to develop student content knowledge and skills so students know how to learn, think critically, solve problems, use information, communicate, innovate, create and collaborate;
- Proficient in using technology as an instructional, management, grading, and parent communication tool;
- Use continuous, authentic and appropriate assessment and evaluation measures that are evidence-based and use them to improve instruction, student learning and for feedback, including progress reports;
- Be flexible, resourceful and innovative while effectively managing the design and execution of learning experiences, both formal and informal;
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations;
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, fosters engagement, self- motivation, student self-direction and positive social interaction while incorporating partners and staff members on an ongoing basis;
- Provide learning opportunities that support the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of the students;
- Work closely with students and parents to guide students through school and future education and career choices;
- Model the teaching expectations that students are to accomplish;
