What are the responsibilities and job description for the Off-duty Akron Police Officers position at Akron-Summit County Public Library?
The Akron-Summit County Public Library seeks off-duty Akron Police Officers to fill shifts (minimum of three hours) at Main Library and city branches (Ellet, Firestone Park, Goodyear, Highland Square, Kenmore, Maple Valley, and Odom Boulevard).
Duties include patrolling Library buildings, grounds, and parking lots; monitoring electronic or video security system; observing customer behavior and intervening when problems occur as directed by Library staff; advising Library customers of behavior guidelines and enforcing those guidelines; helping with the evacuation or movement of the employees and public in emergency situations; and completing incident reports as necessary.
Candidates must be Akron Police Officers. Compensation is established by the City of Akron Chief's Directive for off-duty police jobs. In addition to the hourly rate, the Library also contributes to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
