Pay Rate: $47,000 Annually

Job Summary: A successful MBAC Certification Specialist must be highly motivated with a thorough knowledge of business principles and a strong skill set to support small business owners in every stage of business. This role requires a high level of interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, and experience with providing direct, in-depth consulting and coaching. The right candidate will understand MBE, WBE, EDGE, and Veteran-Friendly certifications and the benefit of becoming a certified entity. The candidate will assist clients with applying for certifications while maintaining the confidentiality of client information.
The MBAC Certification Specialist responsibilities include interviewing and assessing MBAC and MCCAP clients’ needs and developing a strategic action plan for obtaining federal, state and local certifications. They will work with clients on the entire process to obtain certifications through in-depth coaching. This position provides services to the public to engage the community in programming, training, workshops and conferences within the program. The Certification Specialist will develop and plan training sessions and workshops to inform and recruit businesses for State of Ohio MBE, WBE, EDGE, and VBE certifications.
Job Duties:
- Recruiting participants to utilize program services and participate in trainings and events
- Increase number of participants utilizing state products (i.e. Loans & bonding assistance)
- Develop and plan training workshops, conferences and certification workshops, as needed
- Community involvement including public speaking as needed or directed
- Retain knowledge of the various certifications offered through state, federal and local entities
- Assist and increase number of participants obtaining state certifications (MBE/EDGE/VBE/WBE), and tracking them
- Capture participants ongoing increase in opportunities requiring certifications
- Tracking number of jobs created and retained by businesses
- Capture all data relating to participating firms
- Prepare report content for the programs’ status
- Identify and communicate ongoing success stories
- Work closely with the entire team to support client needs
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations for the program
- Support the procurement pipeline and procurement opportunities
- Maintain relations with participants, partners or partner organizations
- Inform management to resolve issues to keep program running smoothly

Qualifications: BS/BA in Business or similar field of study; Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and the ability to travel
Position Requirement:
- Must obtain GrowthWheel Business Advisor Certification. No Fee involved.
- May have to obtain Certified Business Advisor (CBA) Certification. No Fee involved.
Competencies: Strong organizational and time management skills; Proven experience as a counselor, coach or business owner; High level of interpersonal, analytical and communication skills; Knowledge of using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); Ability to handle multiple assignments and establish work priorities with minimal supervision
