Description
The Zoo Camp Counselor will teach camps for children ranging in age from 5-15. This position will include teaching provided lesson plans, directing volunteers to help with necessary activities, and classroom management.
This job entails: working individually and as part of a team to deliver fun educational programing and activities to children ages 5 through 15 years old at the Akron Zoo.
The goal is to engage campers while increasing their knowledge and excitement of wildlife and conservation.
Duties include taking the lead in teaching Zoo Camps for children ages 5-15. Being responsible for maintaining camper safety. Organize volunteer staff (including Jr. Interpreters) for daily assistance. Interact with parents in a professional and courteous manner. Must be able to maintain Zoo Camp schedules and help mentor/train volunteer staff. Responsibilities include polite and professional communications with guests of all ages and types. Giving instructions, directions and answering questions for campers is required on a daily basis.
