Now, we’re looking for a Lead Survey Office Technician to join our Tualatin, Oregon office. In this role, you’ll process field data from survey crews, provide critical support for construction staking, and collaborate with a talented multidisciplinary team on a mix of private and public works projects.
What You’ll Do
- Process field survey data and provide construction staking support for a variety of projects.
- Perform office calculations to assist survey crews with staking, property documentation, topographic mapping, and boundary surveying.
- Prepare construction staking materials for field crews, including using alignments.
- Import and export survey data for fieldwork utilizing Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.
- Conduct quality control checks on conventional and GPS-based construction staking.
- Draft various survey and staking documents using Civil 3D software.
- Maintain survey procedures and quality control standards.
- Communicate with internal teams and general contractors regarding project plans.
- Train and mentor survey crew chiefs and team members.
- Manage survey crew scheduling, equipment tracking, and new technology implementation.
- Oversee the as-built process, including plan completion.
- Ensure adherence to AKS workflows, safety protocols, and industry regulations.
Who You Are
- Experienced: At least 5 years as a Crew Leader in construction staking.
- Skilled in Surveying & Mapping: Strong knowledge of land surveying techniques, survey control, and construction staking.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Trimble Total Stations, GNSS Receivers, and TSC5/TSC7 data collectors.
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and ensure accuracy.
- Educated: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or a relevant field preferred.
- Driver’s License: Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- A growth mindset: Someone who embraces new technology and is eager to learn AKS’s methods.
Nice to Have
- Certified (or working toward): LSI or PLS certification is a plus.
- Past experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, SX10/12 scanner, or Faro Scene software.
