Join Al-Corn's family as a Boiler Operator where safety, environmental stewardship and continuous learning are at our core. Boiler Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all plant boilers and water systems, including sampling and testing of water streams, minor routine maintenance and equipment facility cleaning. As a Boiler Operator you will be expected to learn safety policies and procedures, turbine/HRSG operation and other equipment basics. Boiler Operators are also expected to understand and use Standard Operating(SOP) and Energy Control(ECP) procedures.
Al-Corn operates 24/7 all year long. The Boiler Operator position entails 12 hour rotating shifts, participation in the on-call program, and occasional scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
During a typical day you will:
1. Learn about and monitor the following equipment: turbine generator, steam systems, boilers/HRSGs, potable water systems, reverse osmosis systems, cooling towers, fire water protection systems, and air compressors.
2. Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all daily documentation and inspections.
3. Ensure department compliance with company policies, as well as relevant Local, State, and Federal regulatory requirements.
4. Collect, analyze, and report on process and quality assurance/quality control samples, and adjusts plant operations when necessary.
5. Collect and process operations data and prepare daily logs to support the operation of the plant.
6. Support and perform preventative maintenance, planned and unplanned maintenance activities in the Utilities Department.
7. Communicate verbally and in writing to coordinate with team members and other departments to safely plan and execute maintenance repair work.
8. Determine methods and materials needed to complete assignments.
9. Must be available for after hour calls and shift coverage where required.
10. Comply with all safety and compliance regulations and policies in the execution of all job tasks.
11. Keep the facility, including production and office areas, clean and in tour ready condition
12. Other duties as assigned.
Competencies/Preferred Job Experience
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. 2 years experience in production environment, focusing on operation or repair of mechanical equipment. Experience with boilers, pumps, valves, compressors, electrical or instrumentation preferred.
3. Water Systems Class D Certificate preferred.
4. Knowledge of relevant OSHA, FDA, FRA, and EPA regulations for manufacturing environments
5. Ability to read safety data sheets (SDS) and chemical labels
6. Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software applications
7. Requires time management skills.
