What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bike Builder position at Al's Sporting Goods?
Al's Sporting Goods is seeking experienced and detail-oriented bike builders to join the bike shop team in our Orem store, to assemble a wide range of bicycles, from kids' bikes to high-end road and mountain bikes, including e-bikes. We work with the best brands in the industry including Trek, Specialized, Scott, and many more. he ideal candidate will have a passion for bicycles, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to meet high-quality standards while working independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble bicycles of various types and complexities according to manufacturer specifications, including kids' bikes, road bikes, mountain bikes, and e-bikes
- Ensure all bicycles are built to company and industry quality and safety standards
- Inspect and adjust components to ensure proper function, including brakes, derailleurs, wheels, and electronic systems for e-bikes
- Perform final checks on all assembled bikes to ensure they are ride-ready for customers
- Maintain an organized and efficient workspace, keeping tools and equipment in good working condition
- Meet productivity targets while maintaining high-quality workmanship
- Communicate effectively with the team to report any issues with parts, tools, or processes
Qualifications
- Previous experience assembling bicycles or working in a bike shop is preferred
- Strong mechanical skills and the ability to use hand and power tools effectively
- Familiarity with bike components, including drivetrains, brakes, and electronic systems for e-bikes
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Physical stamina to lift and move bicycles and components as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Able to work efficiently with a team
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
