Position Summary
The Clinical Sales Specialist (CSS) is a field-based position responsible for driving demand. This individual will engage healthcare professionals (HCPs), build strategic relationships, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver results in alignment with our company’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote [Company Product Name(s)] to healthcare providers, institutions, and key accounts within the assigned territory.
- Deliver clinical, scientific, and value-based messaging to inform and educate prescribers and stakeholders.
- Develop and execute strategic territory business plans to achieve or exceed sales targets.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other stakeholders.
- Organize and participate in speaker programs, educational events, and field-based promotional activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Market Access, Medical Affairs, Marketing) to optimize customer engagement and field strategy.
- Maintain accurate records and CRM entries (e.g., Salesforce) for all field activity, including call notes and territory analytics.
- Stay current with clinical literature, competitive landscape, and product updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or related field required; advanced degree a plus.
- 3 years of successful pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device sales experience; launch experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex sales environments (e.g., academic centers, IDNs, specialty clinics).
- Strong understanding of clinical data and ability to effectively communicate complex scientific information.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated, results-driven, and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel 50–70% depending on territory needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in rare disease.
- Prior experience in a biotech startup or early commercial organization.
- Familiarity with specialty pharmacy distribution and reimbursement dynamics
