Summary:
Reports to the Head Men’s Baseball Coach. Responsible for providing representation of student-athletes of Alabama A&M University at the NCAA Division I level in Baseball.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist head baseball coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
- Assist in the recruiting, organizing, motivating and counseling baseball athletes.
- Assist with the tasks associated with recruiting: Letters of Intent (signing) and official visits.
- Monitor the students’ class attendance, study hall, grades, commencement ceremonies and travel.
- Serve as a role model for student-athletes.
- Discipline, monitor personal appearance, conduct, image and general behavior of all student athletes.
- Recruit on/off campus and sign students for Baseball Program.
- Supervise staff and students in the department, who are assigned to this program.
- Acts as a consultant and schedules team travel, hotel, meals and etc.
- Evaluate athletes on physical condition and advises them on maintaining maximum physical fitness for participation in athletic competition.
- Serve as an expert in students’ athletes and educate them on issues affecting intercollegiate athletics.
- Assure that athletes maintain academic eligibility and records of participation are kept and forwarded to the proper agencies and authorities.
- Provide the maintenance and accountability of equipment (i.e. uniforms, field equipment).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
- A Bachelor's degree.
- Must have knowledge of coaching in high school or collegiate level.
- Must have demonstrated successful experience in dealing with student-athlete academic related programs.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of all aspects of counseling basic skills in intercollegiate sports
- Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to work well with others
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to present information in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to establish favorable relationships between the University and other colleges and Universities
- Ability to compose and prepare reports, records and correspondence
