What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Pastor position at Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions?
Mount Zion Baptist Church is currently seeking God's called man to lead our healthy and growing student ministry. Mount Zion is located in the growing community of Corner, in northwest Jefferson County, Alabama. We are a 10 minute drive to places like Warrior and Sumiton and only 30 minutes from Birmingham, Jasper or Cullman. Our church is a wonderful body of believers that have a heart and vision to reach our community.
Mount Zion Baptist Church is a Bible-believing, mission-minded, Gospel-focused, multi-generational church. We believe the Bible is God’s fully inspired, inerrant Word to man and our doctrinal beliefs adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. We are currently averaging 240 in Sunday School and 280 in worship. We are also currently in the midst of a capital campaign, with the goal to implement a renovation plan that will update & modernize a large portion of our campus facilities. Our previous youth pastor transitioned to a new role within our church staff at the beginning on this year, necessitating a search for his replacement.
The Student Pastor is responsible for leading our student program of 25 students in grades 7-12. The successful candidate should desire to cultivate a spiritually sound and dynamic student ministry environment, paying particular attention to the shepherding and disciple-making of students and their families, as well as resourcing staff, volunteers, and parents in their effort to help students begin a relationship with and follow Jesus Christ.
Since this is a full-time position, any candidate that applies should expect to be tasked with another area of responsibility in addition to his student ministry responsibilities. Some possible areas of responsibility could include ministry areas such as Outreach, Media, Facility Administration, Young Adults, Pastoral Care or Small Groups. Any additional responsibility will be in accordance with the candidate’s gifting and experience.

Minimum Qualifications For The Position
- Must be a born again and baptized believer.
- Must meet Biblical qualifications laid out in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-16
- Must be licensed and ordained (or willing to be ordained)
- Doctrinally, must adhere to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
- 3-5 years of full time experience leading a youth group of 20 , preferred.
- While Christian education is not required, it will be a consideration.
- Must possess a sound work ethic and be willing to work in a team environment.
- Must be willing to relocate and become a part of the Corner community.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass a criminal background check.
