- Maintain and grow a Christ-centered youth group and design effective programs and activities where the youth can use their abilities, talents, and spiritual gifts to minister to others as service unto the Lord.
- This position is directly responsible to the Senior Pastor.
- To identify lay-leadership and effectively train them to work with the youth and others as part of a ministry team.
- Meet with leaders regularly to pray and discuss upcoming events, challenges, solutions and praises.
- To guide the church youth in cultivating a burden for Christians and designing and implementing effective outreach and discipleship.
- To provide a weekly youth service that is worshipful, fun, relevant, and effective in instructing, training, nurturing and launching youth into Christian service.
- Develop a long-range plan for student ministry that follows the vision of GRBC.
- Responsible for contacting and beginning relationships with prospects, visitors and new members in order to help them find their place of ministry at GRBC.
- Provide spiritual nourishment through biblical instruction, guidance and positive role modeling.
- Provide discipleship and spiritual direction to teens to help them grow in their relationship with Christ.
- Participate in weekly staff meeting and staff prayer times.
- Oversee budget and expenditures for the student ministry department.
- Prepare and submit annual student ministry budget for approval.
- Responsible for locating credible mission opportunities and coordinating youth efforts to become involved in missions.
- Develop/provide travel activities permission slips for parents to complete and sign, containing emergency information. Keep these on file and take copies with the group when traveling.
- Keep pastor informed of any problems/situations that may arise in your ministry.
- Provide feedback to parents concerning spiritual growth and/or disciplinary issues with their teens.
- Attend all church outreaches in community as youth representative and travel with youth on events and outings.
- Establish and maintain policies concerning operation of the youth ministry.
- Report to and assist the Senior Pastor in preparing reports, making recommendations, outreach, and providing leadership and spiritual guidance to the congregation.
- Help the Senior Pastor provide pastoral care for church members.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- The successful candidate must be a deeply committed Christian and fully support the philosophy of Greenbrier Road Baptist Church and its leadership team. This individual’s commitment to Christ will be evidenced in his personal life, family relationships, and ministry. His daily walk with God will be an example to the students and congregation with which he interacts.
- Demonstrate a good rapport with students and congregation.
- Display a personal openness, integrity and honesty in interpersonal relationships.
- Capable of effective, relevant communication with students, parents, volunteers and staff.
- Must be an enthusiastic and creative leader who is willing to work with current respected staff and volunteers.
- Must have a passion and heartfelt concern for teens; be high energy, hard-working, and possess the ability to motivate others.
- Competent in administration and interpersonal relationships.
- Successful youth ministry experience.
