What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Instructor position at Alabama Community College System?
Full-time faculty members are directly responsible to their division chairpersons and through them to the Dean of Instruction. Full-time faculty members are required to devote a minimum of 35 hours per week to the performance of their on-campus duties. These duties shall include but are not limited to preparation of teaching, student advising, committee work, and divisional and other assignments.
Instructional Responsibilities
To adequately prepare for courses, the instructor provides first day course information which includes course objectives, outline of content, evaluation methods/grading criteria and student responsibilities relative to attendance, punctuality, conduct or other behaviors. The instructor reviews and revises course syllabi, textbooks and other materials, and methods in all courses taught as well as plans carefully for each class session.
In Regard To Classroom Instruction, The Instructor Follows Policies Or Procedures Stated In First Day Course Information, Meets With Classes Regularly And Punctually Or Makes Other Arrangements For All Scheduled Classes, Teaches The Class So As To Meet The Stated Objectives Of The Course, Maintains Adequate And Accurate Student Records, Makes Timely Reports Of Student Records, Maintains And Follows Approved Course Syllabi In Presentation Of Course Content, And When Assigned, Teaches Any Or All Of The Following
The instructor is also expected to assist with the acquisition and maintenance of instruction-related equipment and to conduct appropriate learning assessment, which requires the instructor to follow stated criteria in grading student work, return student work promptly, and evaluate students based on stated objectives.
Responsibilities to Students
The instructor's responsibilities to students include the following: treat all students impartially, treat all students with respect, be accessible to students outside of scheduled classes, advise students in planning their academic programs, and accommodate students with documented disabilities.
Divisional Responsibilities
The instructor's divisional responsibilities are as follows: attend and participate in divisional meetings, work cooperatively with others to plan, and accomplish the goals of the division, provide input into curricula and program development, complete other tasks assigned by the division chairperson, and recruit students for participation in division programs.
Institutional Responsibilities
The instructor's responsibilities to the College include the following: assist with procuring and maintaining equipment; assist with recruitment of personnel; assist with providing a dynamic public relations service for the college.
Further, the instructor should operate within the organization structures and policies of the College, work cooperatively with others to plan, and accomplish the goals of the College, attend and participate in college-wide meetings, participate on committees, complete additional tasks assigned by the Dean of Instruction and/or the President.
Personal and Professional Development
The instructor's personal and professional development obligations are as follows: participate in College sponsored professional development programs and remain informed of trends and developments affecting the instructor's discipline and job performance, identifies own needs and seeks appropriate resources to meet goals for professional development.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Proficient in Word Processing, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Excel, and Canvas, etc.? In addition, the applicant should be knowledgeable concerning web-based instruction and the delivery of instruction through the internet.

Salary Schedule D1$46,590 -$94,363 (9-month) $14,384 - $ 29,184 (3-month), to be determined by the applicant's education and years of applicable experience.
