Salary Placement and Work Hours : This is a 9-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the D1 Salary Schedule with a range of $46,590-$94,363 dependent on education and applicable work experience. Placement is determined by the President and Alabama Community College System Board Policy and salary schedule guidelines. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 35 per week. Weekend and / or evening work may be required on occasions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions : The Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Instructor and Program Director teaches in the MLT program and provides overall direction, coordination, planning, organization, evaluation, and administration of the MLT program. The employee must teach MLT courses; advise students; sponsor student organizations as assigned; participate in college and departmental committee work; submit required reports on attendance and grades; and assist in registration. This position is under direct supervision of the Dean of Workforce Development and Skills Training and must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College.
Duties and Responsibilities : The duties and responsibilities of this position include the following :
- The program director must
be responsible for the organization; administration; instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development; and general effectiveness of the program
provide evidence of participation in the budget preparation process
engage in a minimum of 36 hours of documented continuing professional development every three years
be responsible for maintaining NAACLS accreditation of the program
have regular and consistent contact with students, faculty, and program personnel
Prepare course syllabi and learning outcomes in conjunction with departmental guidelines
Participate in the selection of texts and teaching materials
Serve as academic advisor for students as assigned, including utilizing advising software and following College advising procedures and processes
Participate in all student registration periods and work closely with students to adjust schedules per the College drop / add process
Assist students in attaining relevant certifications
Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies
Participate in the College's planning process
Serve on institutional committees
Assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of program curricula to insure maximum student competency
Be willing to attend professional training as required by program needs or requirements
Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College
Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education
Recruit students for the program and College at large
Teach day and evening classes, on and / or off-campus, and distance education courses, if needed, including industry training courses
Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College
Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community
Collect and maintain performance data for reporting purposes
Maintain a safe, secure, and sanitary classroom and lab environment
Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College
Complete other duties as assigned by the Dean of Workforce Development and Skills Training and / or President

NAACLS-approved medical laboratory professional designation is required
Possession of ASCP-BOC or ASCP-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist is required
Minimum of three years of documented experience in teaching is required
Experience with administration or management is required
Knowledge of current instructional methods
Knowledge of current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures
